Abraham Kriel Bambanani provides the following services: 1. Residential Care:
Traumatised, abandoned, orphaned and neglected children are placed in our care through the Children’s Court into our residential care facilities in and around Johannesburg. Our main aim is: to provide a home to these children to help reunify these children with their parents/family where possible or to reintegrate them into the broader community to develop and empower children so that they can become contributing members of society. 2. Community Services:
Our community care programmes take care of over 550 children affected by HIV/AIDS. With many of the children being heads of households and with a lot more being taken care of by their guardians (in many cases their grandmothers) income is a huge problem resulting in poor nutrition and other problems that manifest in the children. Abraham Kriel Bambanani runs two types of HIV/AIDS programmes; Home-Based Care programmes and Drop-In Centres.
3. Educational Programmes:
Johanna Malan Early Childhood Development Centre (JM ECDC): 75 children aged 6 and younger attend formal pre-school education at JMECDC in Yeoville where they can develop physically, mentally, emotionally and socially. Financial assistance given to poorly resourced families
Impact School: Provides appropriate level education to severely traumatized children on the Langlaagte campus who are unable to function optimally in mainstream schools.
Emdeni Skills Development Centre: We provide skills training to about 200 youth of Emdeni & surrounding areas per year. Skills training offered: computer skills, vegetable cultivation, assistant chef, business skills and life skills. A Community Help Desk is also available for people from the community to be assisted with ID and subsidy applications, photocopying, Internet access, CV assistance, government info, etc.
